I like the quote of Spanish writer Lucia Etxebarria that says "We don't miss people. What we miss is the part of us that they take away with them". This is what I feel with the death of Michael Jackson, for me one of the biggest talents ever of music, dance and performance. I can remember more or less when every single of his big music hits happened because I can link it to what school year I was in, who were my friends back then, to what clubs/bars I was going, in which relationship I was in or what boy I liked back then. I grew up with his music, I enjoyed his videos, I followed his career and I am sad to say, also his physical and personal deterioration. It somehow feels like loosing a piece of my chidhood and adolescence.
To me Michael was an extremely sensitive and fragile person that never recovered from what he felt as a difficult and unfair chidhood and I personally don't believe a thing about him sexually harrasing children. I believe he enjoyed the company of children more than any other because he was trying "to fix" his own traumatic experiences of the early years and he was willing to give them pure and innocent love and maybe receive a bit of love in return. Because life is full of weird paradoxes, I believe Michael -who was loved and adored by millions and millions of people all around the world- was living a extremely lonely life and just needed someone that would love him deeply and unconditionally for what he really was as a person and as an artist, someone he could love and trust. If there is some kind of "life" after death I wish Michael will feel fulfilled emotionally and surrounded by love because in real life he truly succedded in all the rest.
Michael has inspired so many artists throught his music career. I want to share with you a couple of links with a long collection of artworks inspired in the King of Pop. I hope you will like them:
